Italics in main reference window & summary pane

Post by jsteeger »

Apologies; I'm not sure if this is a "requested feature" or a "personal problem" or a "known issue" or etc.

When I make a part of the title italicized in the "edit reference" pane, the change seems to persist and the reference exports fine. However, the italics do not show up in (a) the "summary" pane (b) the "all fields" pane or (c) the main reference window. Why is this?

This is certainly not a crucial issue as it does not affect performance, but it would be nice to know "at a glance" if there are italics where there are supposed to be italics.

Thanks!

Those views are intended to provide information in a concise, readable form, just like the reference list (no styles there, either). Not showing italics or bold is the intended behavior.

But if you want to see styles in the text, open the lower pane and view the formatted reference (the note stream, on the right, also preserves styles).

Cool, thanks for clearing that up.

But I will suggest/request that making visible simple title formatting (italics, bold, underline) in (at least) the main reference window be a user-selectable option. It seems to me that this option has pros ("at a glance" info about simple title formatting) and cons (clutter, inconsistency) that come down to personal preference.
