File Renaming

Post by Hogenson »

At the risk of asking about something already discussed--One aspect of Bookends that I like is that with both DOI identification and when there is a successful Google or PubMed search in the search function the program renames the attached file in a consistent format. This allows me to occasionally export the attached file to other programs such as The Brain and still know what the file is. However, when I have to input all the metadata myself this renaming function is not available as far as I can tell. this means the the attachment file will still be "anonymous" or whatever number may have come with it upon download. I have a lot of older files, and even some recent downloads, that require manual entry of the metadata. So the questions are:

1) am I missing something about the manual data fill that would rename the attachment in the same way the DOI or Google link renames the file

and

2) if I am not missing something is there any possibility of getting this function into the system?

Thanks for any thoughts.

How about Refs -> Global Change -> Rename Attachments?
