Importing Podcasts from iTunes

Post by Ojanostra »

I'm a «survivor» from the Papers 3 shipwreck and I switched to Bookends. I got to say that I'm quite impressed with it so far. I would like to import the references for my Podcasts in Bookends. I wonder if it would be possible to export them from iTunes, and then import them in Bookends. Anyone tried it? Thanks!

You got me curious. I located a podcast in the Finder and attached it to a reference. Bookends won't display it, of course, but if you select "Open Attachment With" -> Default in the Action popup menu (or Shift-Command-O), it opens in iTunes and starts to play.

Interesting. Except my Podcasts are on a different computer. There's no room on my main computer, my Macbook Air. I noticed in iTunes an option to export a Podcast list in XML. Could I import that in Bookends?

No. I just selected a podcast and told iTunes to "Show in Finder" (right click), then dragged and dropped the podcast onto a reference. There is no metadata in the podcast that Bookends can import, if that's what your asking. But Bookends can attach a podcast to a reference, just like any file, and play it (via iTunes).
