Format Manager >> Fields not updated?

Post by Cassady »

Hello all,

I have had to create a new Reference Type.
It's for loose-leaf publications, that get updated in sections/pages through the course of a year.

I've furthermore been forced, due to unique(?) referencing-style requirements, to create new fields.

I'm currently trying to set-up the Formats Manager, for this new Reference Type.

Question:

In Citation Options, when I open the "Fields" dropdown menu, in an effort to insert the newly created fields into the "Field Order" fieldspace(?), the newly created fields are not showing?

In other words, I went into Preferences, and under Refs, changed "User18" (or whatever one wasn't being used) to "Service Number".
I assumed that in the Formats Manager, when I hit the Fields dropdown, that I would then see "Service number", to be able to include it in the Field Order section.

I am not seeing it – so cannot include it.

Any suggestions?

Bookends will display the fields for the Type selected. So make sure you made the change to the Type you wanted (in preferences) and that that Type is selected when you're editing the format.

Thanks Jon – I made sure of that before popping this up.

Regardless, problem resolved. A BE restart appears to have(??) forced the update – the new fields are now displayed.

Prior to that, I was simply manually inserting "u1", "u2", "u16" etc., and clicking into the "Subsequent (Optional)" fieldspace, to force the update of the live preview in the "Example Citation"... I managed to find a few of them – but now that they have updated in the Fields dropdown, it's obviously much easier.
