Extraneous characters in reference preview

Post by farotxa »

Hi Jon,

When I updated to the most recent version of Bookends (12.5.5), I noticed that some reference styles put some extraneous characters in the reference preview, the one that shows below the reference list with a reference is selected. It doesn’t happen in all styles (APA 5th and 6th, Science, Oxford author-date and many others). I have pasted a reference below in APA and Vancouver styles as they appear in the preview. As you can see the Vancouver style looks fine, but the APA style does not. Not a big deal, as the scanning process formats the references without the extraneous characters and the export function appears to be OK, but any idea of why could this be?

In APA 5th edition:
Arnberg, K., Mølgaard, C., Michaelsen, K. F., Jensen, S. M., Trolle, E., \& Larnkjær, A. (2012). Skim milk, whey, and casein increase body weight and whey and casein increase the plasma C-peptide concentration in overweight adolescents. \textit{Journal of Nutrition}, \textit{142}(12), 2083-2090.

In Vancouver style:
Arnberg K, Mølgaard C, Michaelsen KF, Jensen SM, Trolle E, Larnkjær A. Skim milk, whey, and casein increase body weight and whey and casein increase the plasma C-peptide concentration in overweight adolescents. J Nutr. 2012;142:2083-2090.

Thanks much,

Ah, Never mind. The problem's gone away by itself. The references look fine now. Strange.

They're not extraneous, they are BibTex markup commands. Go to Biblio -> Bibliography and make sure that the output is set to be in Styled Text.
