Letting Bookends perform Spotlight searches on Safari webarchives

Post by Philologist »

I have already a vast number of Safari files in webarchive format attached to my references in Bookends. I like this format because it saves the web page exactly as it appears in a web browser, and it shows me later an exact image of the original page, no matter whether I'm connected to the Internet or not.

This is not the case if I save the web page as PDF; then colors disappear, the hot links are not displayed anymore in underlined and blue, etc. A webarchive has clearly an advantage over a PDF in this respect.

Would it be possible to let Bookends perform Spotlight searches on Safari webarchives? Now only PDFs and text files are searchable, if I understand this correctly.

I don't know if Spotlight indexes them or not. Can you search for them using Finder Spotlight?

Yes, every single character is searchable with Spotlight, so I assume it should be easy to implement this.

When a web page is saved to disk with Safari, we have two options, one of which is Web Archive.
