Bookends occasionally crashes when I work with smart groups

Bookends occasionally crashes when I work with many smart groups.
I have to restart it and select the standard library again.
Flatten and indexing do not help. No errors are found in the database.

Is this problem known?

Just to let you know:
It seems to be a compatibility issue (unicode) caused by directly importing a library from Endnote.
