Hide left panel & custom toolbar

1) I wonder why there is no option to hide left panel though I can drag to the minimum.
2) Also, there is no option to custom toolbar that is found in almost all apps.
3) Most of the time I import pdf's from watch folder but the problem is to identify them (and add keywords), I usually short them by "Added" date but this one takes the pdf file downloaded date rather than the date added into the bookends, I would suggest the imported pdf's should go into hit lists.
4) Is there any way to short the references that doesn't have keywords?
5) How to stop automatically opening the last opened library? Bookends always opens the last used library even if I directly open a different library!

1. Because the left pane is integral to the way Bookends is used, and I don't want to get emails from frustrated uses who closed it and now can't "find it". What's the point? It can be as narrow as 5 10 pixels or so.

2. You can customize it (icon only, text only, or both). You can't add more icons because they're all shown.

3.You have a much better option, the ability to import them into a static group. Deal with them and when done remove them from that group.

4. I don't know what you mean.

I don't know what you mean.

I want to have keywords for every reference article in my library, because smart groups are awesome (and I don't have static groups) but sometime I forget to add keywords while I import them and they never appear in smart groups (this is where I miss some articles).

If I have a way to find the references that doesn't have any keywords then I could add one.

5. That's feature, not a bug.

at-least not for me, I have several library and it is annoying me that the last library opens automatically. There must be an option to disable it.

You can search for references where keywords are empty. Then use a Global Change function to add keywords in batch to the Hits (use ¬, which is Option-L on a US keyboard, to insert Returns between multiple keywords in the Global Change function).

how do I search for references where keywords are empty? (using regex? is there any examples that shows list of regex can be used with bookends?)

You can use regex, but why bother? Please look in the user guide (help menu) for the Find function (Command-F). Choose to search the entire library for Text where the field Keywords is empty.

thanks, I didn't expect that the drop down has an option for empty field, very useful feature.
