I used to be able to drag a PDF into the database, and bookends would (more often than not, depending on the availability of standard metadata) recognise the reference. Now I always get the message "autocomplete" even for PDF's I know have worked in the past. I am not aware of any system or software updates. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
Thank you.

Importing PDF and making bookends recognise metadata suddenly is not working (version 10.6.4)

If you're using PubMed to autocomplete it no longer works with old versions of Bookends, due to changes made by PubMed.

Thank you for your prompt reply (on a Saturday afternoon!).
Does that mean that by upgrading to the latest version of Bookends I should solve the problem? In this case, could you possibly tell me what is the OLDEST version of OSX still compatible?

Yes, Bookends 12.7.6 works with PubMed (download the demo for yourself to make sure it works for you).
To run, Bookends 12.7.6 requires 10.7 or later, although some features require a newer OS (e.g. cloud sync requires 10.10 or later).
