saving keywords terms list as text file

Post by matthias »

Hi,
I am having difficulties getting my keywords list saved as a proper text file.
I choose Utilities>Term Lists>Save..., and in the resulting text file the diacritics are replaced by other characters (e.g. 'Europol-Übereinkommen' is put out as 'Europol-?úbereinkommen'). I tried opening the file in TextEdit, Mellel and Word 2004, all the same awkward result. Has anybody experienced the same problem and could thus offer a remedy?

Thanks,
Matthias

The text is encoded as UTF-8 (Unicode). If you tell TextEdit this (in the Open File dialog) your acented letters will show up properly. FWIW, it opened properly in Mellel (1.9.1) for me as well.

Word 2004 only understands the UTF-16 form of Unicode, not UTF-8. Most Unicode-savvy apps handle both...
