Status bar displaying selected items

Post by Dellu »

The status bar showing the count of the selected items would be very helpful. I always displays "showing 1010 out of 1010 refs": seems that it counts the items inside a group selected. But, would be nice: if it displays "10 selected out of 1010 refs" when there are items selected...and, when items are marked (but not selected), it could show "10 items marked out of 1010"...

I mean, if the task doesn't require a lot of work.

No, it changes all the time to display the number showing. For example, if you click on a group it might say 10 of 10 showing (you may have 1000 in the library). If you then further refine the list by typing in the Live Search box it might say 3 of 10 showing. I see no benefit from showing the number marked all the time (if you really care you can click on the Hits group and see the number marked).

Yes, I understood that.

The Marked actually came up later. I was primarily thinking about the SELECTED items.

I sometimes want to count how many items I imported today: or, how many articles are published in one issueF1. As you suggested, I can obviously find the numbers after filtering them (by the hits list or grouping): but, status bar showing the selected items would make the process faster.

F1: I am using BE to manage and control the publications (for some journals, I want to have all of their articles because these journals are at the heart of my study). So, I want to count the number of articles in an issue in my library because I want to check if I have missed some articles from the issue.

Another useful trick is that if you Shift-click on the reference checkbox on a selected reference *all* the selected references will be made hits (this property toggles). So you can quickly convert your selected to hits (marked) and collect them all by clicking the Hits group.
