12.8.1 issues

Post by Sunshine »

I was working along fine all day, then I updated to 12.8.1 and my Bookends online search not longer finds or imports book titles rendering it pretty useless. Please fix asap :(.

Not enough information. What site are you searching (and what was the search)?

Hi Jon.

Thanks for responding.
In Online Search most of my Google Scholar searches no longer have a Title.
Neither do they import with a Title anymore.

I have attached an example.

Yes, I see. This actually has nothing to do with 12.8.1 per se, it's just that Google Scholar made changes to their output around the time we made the release. It broke previous versions of Bookends GS search, too.

I've updated to GS parser -- please download Bookends 12.8.1 again and use this latest build.

To avoid any confusion, this thread can be deleted now.

The thread may be useful for anyone else who is using Google Scholar and suddenly finds that titles aren't parsed correctly (I'm getting reports from others now).

We have to periodically update Google Scholar search code because Google doesn't have an API -- even small changes they make can break our algorithms.
