Bib Anomaly in Mellel 4

Post by jzents »

I'm formatting a bibliography for an essay I am doing for the confirmation class I teach, and I ran into something a bit unusual and I don't know how to fix it. My bibliography has four books with Bart Ehrman as either the author or the editor. He is the author in three and the editor in one. The complicating factor is that he is the author in the two books that were published in 2005, but he is the editor in one and the author of the other that have 2015 publication dates. The result is in my bibliography the 2015 book that he is the author of is listed second to the one where he is the editor. The result is that the book in which she is the author skips his name because it's just been mentioned, but the way it's been mentioned is as editor. I am attaching a screenshot because my explanation is not very clear I'm afraid. But I've tried everything to coax Bookends plus Mellel into doing this correctly and I can't get it to do it that way. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong. Let me tell you a few of the pieces of information. The three books in which he is the author are all simply listed as book in their format settings. The one where he is the editor is listed as an edited book, and his name is under editors not authors. Well I was going to attach a 265 KB file jpeg but it will not let me. Sorry. I guess I do not know what format it wants.

Posting something like this on the forum is useless. You need to contact tech support and attach your 4 references, the format you are using, and a one line Mellel document that, when scanned, shows the problem. Then in the email tell us what you expected and what you got.

Thank you. Doubt that a one line doc will show the problem. Cheers!

Two lines, then. All that is needed is the citations, actually.
