BE v12.8.4, OS 10.12.6
I exported my hits list to to a bibliography window. However, I notice that whilst the general format of individual items is as expected (IEEE), the order of the items is incorrect and seemingly random. From investigation the list seems to be exporting using the order the items were ticked as 'hits' (which I assume is some hidden date/time metadata.
I've tried closing re-opeing the app but the error persists. It appears there's no setting to control the order and the format I'm using (should liss entries by alphabetical order go first author's last name. This is problematic as the format numbers entries which are currently not listed in correct order - i.e. if I move an item I'd have to manually re-number everything.
How do I get Bookends to order the generated bibliography correctly?
Biblio from Hits list - wrong sort order
Re: Biblio from Hits list - wrong sort order
That's handled by the format, and IEEE Publications is not set to sort the bibliography. So go to the format and in the Bibliography tab check Alphabetize references.
If you don't want do to that (because the bibliography should not be sorted when you do a real scan), you can do Hits -> Sort Hits List before generating the bibliography.

Re: Biblio from Hits list - wrong sort order
Belated thanks. I'd tried sorting the hits using the main listing's column heads, which seemed to work on screen but next time I'll use the menu option as instructed.
Understood re the (alphabetised) sorting deriving from the format. I hadn't realised that the format doesn't specify such a sort.
Many thanks
