I am new to Bookends. In fact, I am new to on-line research. I have dabbled in it over the years but now I am writing my ideas out and, I need research, references, etc. I confess I purchased Bookends because it was on the Winterfest2017 sale. But I also did a lot of research before making the purchase and I am convinced that Bookends is a robust and well supported bit of kit.
I am making this, my first post here on the Bookends forums, a request for some understanding that I am heading in a good direction. If there are favorite tutorials not only wth Bookends but with this sort of research using citations et al, I am happy to know about it. I am looking at the user manual and doing my best to learn this but ... there is a lot to understand and it would be useful to know I am heading in the right direction as I am learning. I am having some challenges which are probably as much from my inexperience in this sort of web base research as from my unfamiliarity with Bookends.
I already learned in the Bookmarks FAQ section that I had to disable Adobe Reader as it was interfering with the webkit that Bookends uses. I do use Adobe Acrobat (not Adobe reader). I did find those plugins and I archived and removed them. It seemed to help the page load. On the other hand, what will happen when I next open Adobe Acrobat (not the reader)?
I was impressed at all the built in Universities and the other built in searches. Some of those built in University portals do in fact work. And some, do not work (Penn State yes, Duke, Yale no). But perhaps this is just normal and I would need to acquire a password and permission to enter those databases? This speaks to my inexperience.
Some searches, Library of Congress for one, will populate the results field, but clicking on the results yields nothing in the lower section.
At this point, I am just testing to see that it works. Then, I will learn about formatting and all the rest.

Welcome. I can answer a few of your explicit questions.
1. The Adobe add-ins apply to non-Adobe apps that use WebKit. They're not used by Adobe Acrobat itself.
2. University searches may fail because their libraries have changed their settings or they are offline. I update them when users report problems. I'll look at the ones you mentioned.
3. I see no problems with the LOC search. If you want to pursue this please contact tech support with a screen snap of what you see (support@sonnysoftware.com).

1. Duke doesn't respond to Bookends or Endnote, and I can find no new information about Z39.50 connections with their library. If you're at Duke you might contact the library and ask if it's still available.
