Adding page numbers to footnotes

I'm using Mellel+Bookends. 'Live Bibliography' is ticked in the Bibliography palette. I'm adding page numbers to footnotes using '@XX' as instructed, and it usually works. But sometimes the edited footnote simply disappears into a narrow, purple, blinking space. What am I doing wrong? Any advice gratefully received.

Check the format and make sure that the Type where you see this actually outputs text. Turn off live bibliography while checking this out.

Hi. Thanks for the tip. I didn't quite understand what "the Type where you see this actually outputs text" meant, but I turned off Live Biblio and did a scan and that seemed to fix it. HOWEVER, a little later, another citation I tried to import (drag-n-drop) into Mellel resulted in exactly the same thing (a purple blinking rectangle the width of a full stop) straightaway! I've checked in Formats Manager and simply can't see a problem there, and I've tried various means of importation; no joy. Any thoughts?

Have you tried sending the citations to Mellel by using the "CTRL + Command + Y" key combination in Bookends?

Ah. That seems to work; thank you. Apart from one rogue (Internet type) citation which I must have corrupted somehow; Mellel REALLY doesn't seem to like it. Thanks again.

I can't reproduce a problem with drag and drop of references into Mellel. But if you can, please contact Mellel tech support with the details.
