Minor bugs

Post by dtoub »

Wondering if these are just native to my system or happening to others, but all are pretty minor. Here are three issues I'm finding (I'm running macOS 10.14, if that might be a factor):
  • cmd-c (or using PopClip copy) in reference windows, attachments, etc usually doesn't copy anything. What does work is right-click; copy using Bookends' own copy and paste system. It would be nice to be able to use cmd-C though.
  • When I open Bookends, the items on the bottom (web, formatted reference, attachment, etc) are not visible unless and until I manually drag up or down on the lower left corner of the Bookends window (which inevitably triggers the Dock items at first). Maximizing the Bookends window doesn't solve this either-I have to do a manual resize of the window.
  • Dragging an attachment (PDF) from the Finder to attach it to a specific reference in Bookends fails the first time around, but works on the second attempt. I suspect there are some issues with windowing that are affecting this.
Thanks. Just wanted to see if this is happening to anyone else.

#1 (for text -- you can't copy/paste an attachment) and #2 don't happen to me (or anyone else, AFAIK). Have you tried Rebuilding your library? And Rebooting your Mac?

As for #3, the first drag always works (the opposite of what you're seeing). A second drag soon after may not (that's the OS, not Bookends).

See if the steps above help.

I have done both. #2 has been present from day one using Bookends (I started about two months ago I think) and #1 is indeed for text.

Here is how Bookends looks when I start it up-note all the missing icons at the bottom:

#3 seems better if I drag it slower but it was an issue. Will monitor for now. Thanks.

I can't reproduce #1 or #2. Please contact tech support (support@sonnysoftware.com) and send your library. Please tell me exactly what to do to see these behaviors.
