References within references?

Post by Massachusetts user »

Is there any way to enter the bibliographic information about a book into Bookends and then reference this information in entries for chapters in that book?

At present, I find myself repeatedly entering information about the title, editors, publisher, etc. for books that have multiples articles in them. Have i missed the relevant feature, or is it an idea for the future?

The obvious thing to be able to do is drag a book entry onto an article entry and have all the relevant information appear in the article entry.

Hi,

You can't have references within references. BUT, you can easily create multiple entries for the same basic reference (e.g. a book) and then edit only the fields that are different between entries.

To do this, open the reference window for the "base" reference and Edit -> Copy Reference. Then Edit -> Paste Reference as many times as you like, once for each chapter, for example.
