Citing the Oxford English Dictionary

Post by jmpayton »

New user here.

I'm trying to figure out how to create a reference article entry type in Bookends, and this entry type does not appear as an option on the "Add" menu in the upper left corner of the menu bar.

Specifically, I'm trying to cite from the OED and am wondering how to set up the following citation, which the OED produced when clicking on the "Cite" link:

"buccaneer | buccanier, n." OED Online, Oxford University Press, March 2020, www.oed.com/view/Entry/24098. Accessed 28 May 2020.

Any help in setting up this sort of reference would be greatly appreciated.

You create a new Type in preferences (Refs tab). Rename an Unused type.

As to setting up the format, it really depends on where the data are stored in the reference. Take a look at one of the Internet types (e.g. for APA 5th) to see how citations that refer to date accessed can be created.
