How to copy citation to clipboard for use in Roam

Post by melhopkop »

Hi there! I love Bookends and have recently started using Roam Research. Powerful combination!

I'd like a way to paste reference metadata into a new page in Roam using this format:
- **Metadata**
- #[[author]]: [[Liana C Del Gobbo]] [[Fumiaki Imamura]] [[Jason HY wu]] [[Marcia C de Oliveira Otto]] [[Stephanie E Chiuve]] [[Dariush Mozaffarian]]
- #[[year]]: [[2013]]
- #[[journal]]: [[American Journal of Clinical Nutrition]]
- #[[topics]]: [[magnesium]] [[cardiovascular disease]] [[optimal levels]]
- #ID: delgobbo2013circulating
- #reading #meta-analysis

This is a specific example - the copy would pull in this Metadata. I tried setting up a new format for references in Bookends according to the YouTube tutorial, but my changes weren't showing up in the preview. I also couldn't see if I had to choose between enabling Bibtex or copying the metadata I want.

Thanks for your help!

You can create a format that will do what you want. I don't know what you mean by the changes "not showing up". You can contact tech support directly if you want to pursue that.

P.S. Don't turn on BibTeX for this. For "copying" the metadata, you can make Roam Research the "default word processor" and then use Copy Formatted.
