To prevent the URL from being imported, edit the Google Books.fltr (delete the "Image URL:" tab).

If you want to prevent the cover art from being downloaded, go to Google Bookends in the Online Search window (the direct search, not in Bookends Browser) and uncheck the option Display Image at the bottom right.

Got it, thank you! Still in the Google Books filter: would there also be a way to import the date in the short only-year format (i.e. 2013, for instance) and not in the complete form (i.e. 2013-05-13)?

No, Bookends imports what's provided. But in the format there is a setting for "use year only".
