On the Mac I have modified the Chicago 17th A format for my purposes. I primarily work on the Mac but thought it might be helpful to be able to process things on my iPad sometimes. I installed the Bookends app on the iPad and have set up synchronization.
When I noticed that my bibliography items aren't formatted the way I want them I looked up how formats work in the iOS version. There seem to be only a limited number of formats available for the iPad version. What I read in the documentation is that new formats can be imported if they are in the Zotero .csl format.
Is there a way to convert the modified .fmt format I've created to a .csl file?
Thanks,
Matthew
Bookends formats from Mac to iPad version
Re: Bookends formats from Mac to iPad version
No, they are completely different. You can edit the .csl file, but it far more difficult than editing a Bookends format. Google "edit a csl file" and you'll see several options. It may be easiest to do this in Zotero (https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/cita ... ep-by-step). You can also request a new csl style from citationstyles.org (https://github.com/citation-style-langu ... UESTING.md), but they may not be willing to do that for personal variations on a theme.

Thanks for the answer, Jon. I was kind of expecting that.
