Can’t batch add colored tags to PDFs

I have used Keywords to mark references inside of Bookends. With these, I can apply filters and see (or mark) just those that have a certain Keyword, or any other property. This lets me create groups inside Bookends.

But I’d also like to create groups in the Finder and DevonThink. To do this, I guess I can use the colored Finder tags that attach to the PDFs, which show up just below the gear and highlighters in the attachment view pane. The problem is—I can’t apply Finder tags to more than one PDF at a time.

I tried using Refs > Global Change > Modify PDF Tags

But it doesn’t work.

So my questions are:

1. Is there another way to pass markings from Bookends to its attached PDFs.
2. Can anyone get the Refs > Global Change > Modify PDF Tags to work?

Using Global Change -> Modify PDF Tags to work in batch is fixed for the next update.

If you don't want to wait for the next update, note that you can also add or remove tags in batch while in the PDF display pane. Select multiple references with PDF attachments and then added or remove a PDF tag from one of them. All the PDFs in the selected refs will be updated at once.

I'm also trying to batch add tags and can't seem to get this to work in the way that you've suggested:

I have a smart group of items - selected by keyword
I select all the items in this group
I add the required tag to one pdf
I get a pop-up asking if I wish to 'Add to all selected refs'
I click on this (to indicate 'yes).
The pop-up goes away.
No tags are added, even to pdf that I'd selected from the group as the one to modify.

Weird.

I just test that again (with an older versions as well as the upcoming update) and it works for me. Try again when the update is released, in about a week.
