I am selecting regions of text in an article that I wish to copy over to a white board app (Curio) as a note taking practice. The deep link approach is a brilliant addition to BE. I have few questions.
* The only way to copy text + deep link is to highlight the selection first. To improve on this, could the editing bar include an option to Copy Text+Link?
* The Gear icon also only gives a Copy Link option. Should it also include the Copy Text and Copy Text+Link options?
* Consider the case when the editing toolbar is closed without action but the text selection remains active.
I do not find a way to re-invoke the editing toolbar. Can we have a way to re-invoke the editing bar (e.g. by hitting a control+T when the selection is still highlighted and visible in the viewing window)?
* I tried to drag a selected text from the PDF out to Curio. I tried to drag highlighted text from a PDF view in BE to an idea space on Curio. Nothing is carried over. Is it possible to set the clipboard to allow drag+drop out of BE while editing a PDF? For example -- no extra keys: drag+drop selected text, option key: drag+drop link to selection, shift+option keys: drag+drop text + link to selection.
* The arrow switches to a hand when the selection on a PDF is on a figure.
I cannot however find a way to select or copy a figure. Can this be made possible (with comparable added keys to copy figure, link to figure, and figure+link as above)?
Questions and Feature Requests: Editing to copy to a whiteboard app
Re: Questions and Feature Requests: Editing to copy to a whiteboard app
I understand your requests, but I'm loath to add lots of small and highly specific features of limited appeal. We make it easy to open the PDF in any dedicated PDF reader of your choice, where you can do many of these things.
If you inadvertently close the selected text popover you can invoke it again by reselecting the text.
As for dragging the selected text, that would be handled by PDFKit, and it doesn't seem to support it. You can't select and then drag text in Preview either, for example.
