Can't handle author first name beginning with number

Post by zfirst »

I have a reference in which the author is a corporation with a name that begins with a number (3M Inc). I am using a custom reference type in which I force Bookends to format the author name as entered, without abbreviation. For some reason, it insists on formatting this reference as "M Inc" rather than "3M Inc" as it should.

That's logical. To prevent it, end the name with a comma:

3M Inc,

and Bookends will leave it alone.

Sorry, I tried with different formats and couldn't reproduce what you say. I always get '3M Inc.'.
Could you be more specific? E.g., How exactly do you enter the information in Authors field? How is the format code you use?
Well, perhaps in the meantime somebody else (probably Jon himself) finds the answer…

I knew he would get it! I always entered it with the comma…
