problem importing medline keywords

Post by gilbert »

Bookends 9.0.3 doesn't import medline keywords, "note", and "accession number" when i perform an internet search... (no problem with endnote)

Not very important for "note" and "accession number", but very a problem for keywords...

example: try to import :
Baldessarini, 2006, Arch Gen Psychiatry, Suicidal risk in antidepressant drug trials

Thanks,

Gilbert

Hi gilbert,

This was a conscious decision -- I don't find MESH headings at all useful for personal databases (they're intended for dealing with millions of references).

However, if you do, it's a simple matter to tweak the filter to import them.

1. File -> Import Filter Manager
2. Select PubMed, then click Edit.
3. Enter

MH

next to the field Keywords.

As for accession number (PubMed ID), that's imported at the end of the URL.

I don't recall the tag for Notes, but whatever it is, you can enter it in the import filter next to the Notes field.

Finally, I'd move the filter to ~/Library/Application Support/Custom Import Filters. This way it won't be replaced each time you upgrade Bookends.

P.S. If others would like keywords to be imported by default, let me know and I can adjust the shipping version accordingly. Let me know if you don't, too.
