Is is possible to add support for ACM's digital library for searching?

I don't know. Contact me directly with more information about this source and we'll see.

Did anyone ever successfully get importing from the ACM Digital Library working?

http://portal.acm.org/

If so, I'd love to hear about it. If not, it is a truly vast resource if you are in any area of computing or new media science / culture / art - if anyone has any suggestions on how to procede, or wants to work with me to create one, including it in Bookends would be a major selling point for academics in my field(s).

I just did a quick search on a topic. The results could be output as "EndNote". This is just the standard Refer format -- it can be copied to the clipboard and imported from there.

So yes, at least in my very limited trial it seems you can import from ACM Digital Library.

Thanks -

I was so focused on the Bookends Internet Search dialog and the Import Filter Manager that I forget to carefully check the ACM web interface.

To clarify for anyone who has this question in the future:

1. Go to http://portal.acm.org/
2. Run a search or add citations as you find them to a "binder"
3. Output to either BibTex or EndNote
4. Import to Bookends

There is also a format called ACM Ref - but since they export to standard formats, there is no reason to add yet another import method to Bookends.
