I've been trying to import BibTeX from the ACM Library, but am having problems with Proceedings papers. The following resulted in the BibTeX key being imported but no other information:
@inproceedings{1083394,
author = {James Blustein and Ishtiaq Ahmed and Keith Instone},
title = {An evaluation of look-ahead breadcrumbs for the WWW},
booktitle = {HYPERTEXT '05: Proceedings of the sixteenth ACM conference on Hypertext and hypermedia},
year = {2005},
isbn = {1-59593-168-6},
pages = {202--204},
location = {Salzburg, Austria},
doi = {http://doi.acm.org/10.1145/1083356.1083394},
publisher = {ACM Press},
address = {New York, NY, USA},
}
I checked the proceedings type and saw that "proceedings" and "Inproceedings" are both allowed, and I added "inproceedings" in case it was case-sensitive. Thinking that the "reference begins with" field might be the problem, I tried changing this from "bibtex" to @ and then {, but that didn't work?
Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
Another import filter problem
I just copied the BibTeX ouput in your post to the clipboard and imported it with our filter -> everything imported correctly except the DOI, which went into the City field (you'll have to add a DOI tag to our filter so Bookends will recognize it).
Maybe you have edited the original filter so that some important setting has been lost?
You can email me directly and I'll send you a fresh BibTeX filter if you like.

BibTeX problem
Sorry, Jon, I'm not sure what I did wrong, but I tried again, copying the BibTeX from my forum message, and it went fine. I'm thinking that, when copying from the ACM output, I must have copied some extraneous characters or something stupid like that?
