multiple dates

Post by Stoic »

I'm sure this has come up before, but I can't find an answer in the User Guide.

I want the formatted entries for books, essays, etc., to include both the original date of publication, in parentheses or brackers -- e.g., (1937) -- and also the date of the edition I am using.

For example: Evans-Pritchard, E. E. Witchcraft, Oracles, and Magic Among the Azande. Oxford: Oxford University Press, (1937) 1956.

I know this can be done, but I can't figure out how to do it.

I am not sure if I understood your problem correctly…

What I do is enter the Original Publication date in the appropriate field and also enter the publication date of the edition in the year field. Then you can manipulate your output format to include the original publication field (u11 in my case).

Thanks for your help. I hadn't found the "original publication date" field. Now that I have, I should be able to manage it.
