Taking the liberty to bother the forum with something old
Since i lost my custom formats after a system reinstall i am re-creating two formats for "archive" and "archival document".
It occurred to me that the way in which one cites from an archive is very much like the way in which one cites from an edited book. In that sense, an archival document is comparable to a book chapter. Which brings me to my real question: would it be an idea to have a format "archive" (based on edited book) and have a function "replicate as archival document" similar to the "replicate as book chapter" function that was implemented a while ago? This would save a lot of time in inputting data.
I realize that this type of request is rather particulat but it seems to me this could be useful for several people in the humanities.
In addition to the above (and after some experimentating):
There are two possiblities here:
1) input each archival document in BE
In this case a replication function as in the previous mail would be nice
2) not input each document in BE but only the archive that it is a part of
One can model the format on "journal article" for example and than use a custom citation which outputs, instead of pages, the box and folder of a relevant archive.
Anyway, just thought i'd share my 2 cents. Maybe others have another solution for it?
