Omit reference type in Bibliography?

Is there a way to do this?
For instance, in my research field, you have to cite an article in an encyclopaedia, like

Smith, "article", ThWAT I, 230

where 'ThWAT I' refers to the first volume in "Theologisches Wörterbuch zum Alten Testament".

But then you don't have to give the full reference of this Encyclopaedia, which is of course well known in biblical studies.
So I have set a special reference type for Encyclopaedia articles, and I would like them to be inserted in footnotes but not included in the final Bibliography.
Is there a way to do it? If not, would it be an easy-to-add feature? (Just another option in formats manager, perhaps?)

What you're asking for sounds like something pretty basic, so maybe I don't understand.

You should be using a custom citation format to handle citations. Create an encyclopedia Type and have it output whatever you want. The "master" format (which creates the bibliography) should be configured as you want that to look.

If you are asking if there is a way to have a citation appear in the text and NOT in the bibliography, then yes, you would use Copy Formatted (not Copy Citation) and insert the final citation when you are writing.

It is of course up to those whom you are submitting, but you are still supposed to include encyclopedia's and dictionaries in your bibliography, according to SBL anyway. But in the bib. you cite the entire dictionary series, not the specific article.

Exactly. But in the case of ThWAT, for instance, it means only one, very complicated citation (many and different editors, years, etc.), which I prefer to add manually.
