importing .ri file?

Post by K1 »

This may be answered already, but I couldn't find it. I'm trying to export from a database that gives you an option of EndNote, ProCite, and Reference Manager. It creates a .ri file that I wasn't able to import.

Is there something I need to do to import it?

No doubt it is in RIS format. Bookends has an RIS import filter.

That's what I thought, I've imported RIS before, maybe there's something wrong with the export function. I tried changing it to .ris but it didn't work.

Either it's not really RIS (even though it is tagged .ri) or it isn't standard. The easy thing to do is to open the file in TextEdit and open the filter in Bookends, then edit the filter if necessary. It probably is something simple, like "references begin with" expects something that the file doesn't have.

I'd make a new filter based on RIS, BTW, and give it another name, like RIS From [Name Of Database].
