"Don't enclose final citation" and Mellel Prob

Post by caorongjin »

Hi all... I've been trying to figure out the Mellel integration with Bookends and have noticed a problem.. the "Don't enclose final citation" does not seem to work. I check the box, append something like:

Code: Select all

\, 289.\
to the end of it, produce a Chicago 15th footnotes, and I still get the period which looks something like:

Code: Select all

Author Name, Title (City: Publisher, 2006)., 289.
Am I missing something?

Yes. Don't enclose final citations means Bookends should omit the closing punctuation, usually parantheses. So the final citation would be Smith et al., 2006 intead of (Smith et al., 2006).

In your case, Bookends is only doing what you told it to. The text between the slashes is being output as you indicated you want it.

To output pages in a more flexible way, use cited pages:

{Smith, 2006, whatever@289} -- in Mellel you won't see the curly brackets.

Please see the section in the User Guide on Cited Pages.
