Cyrillic+BE+Tiger
Cyrillic+BE+Tiger
Switched from BE 9.1 on iBook G3 running 10.3.9 to BE 9.1 on MacBookPro running 10.4.8. On both machines active "input sources" are English and Russian. Primary language on both machines - English. On the new machine, running 10.4.8, the input-source keeps jumping to Russian in BE, even if there actually is no text in Cyrillic in my database. Apart from the fact that this means constantly manually resetting the input source, it also appears to slow down the whole application. Did anybody experience similar problems, and, if so, how did you solve it?
Problem solved. In the International System Preferences panel the option "Use one input source in all documents" has to be checked - this cryptic, almost Windows-like jargon, does not mean, as I had though before that one can only type using one keyboard - rather it means that, when switching from one document or application to the other, the OS won't try to what used to be called "match keyboard to font", but will rather just keep the keyboard layout that was active before switching to the application. As to why Bookends reacts so strangely to OS attempts to match keyboard to font if there is no Cyrillic text at all in the database is of course the question.
