I notice, not for the first time, some strange problem when i use the "replicate as book chapter" function. This is, as precise as i can be, what happens:
1) i use the search bar to locate a reference
2) i open this reference and select the replicate function from the refs menu
3) i type in the author and title of the book chapter
4) several things might now happen:
- sometimes the new reference shows up double in my hit list
- sometimes it disappears when i leave the hit list (clear the search bar) and try to relocate it; it is not in the db and i have to re-insert it
This behaviour is rather erratic, sometimes it coccurs and sometimes not. It happened twice now and each time seemed to corrupt the db itself (verify showed problems).
Anyway, after rebuilding today my db was fine. I know this is a tech issue but perhaps others have experienced similar behaviour so that's why i put it on the forum.

db problems when using "replicate as book chapter"
Jon, Gerben, I have exactly the same issue at hand. A rebuild of the db cures the db corruption, but when you start replicating again, the same problem occurs. What apears to be happening is that the first replicate goes alright, but the second time you perform this operation on the same book, the first and second replicates somehow merge or whatever. At least the second replicate appears twice in list view, one of them without title, though. When you select this second one without title, you can see in the view formatted window at the bottom that it is actually the first replicate glossed over, even if in reference view it shows up as being the second replicate. When you delete it, it turns out, though, that the first replicate has been eliminated from the database. Complicated story, hope this info helps pinpointing the source of the problem.
