This may be a tricky one, but it would be brilliant!
Would it be possible to do 'combined' Spotlight searches within Bookends? At the moment I am using "FoxTrot" to do searches in my articles (~1000 pdfs!), but the problem is, that when I do this I cannot limit my search to, say, a specific author, journal, year or whatever. However, Bookends has all these information, and as far as I understand it - it indexes the pdfs already, in order to find DOIs etc, and there is a already a 'Spotlight' search option in the search bar. However, I haven't found a way to combine a spotlight search, with say an author search... So something on the lines of:
[author]=rudensky AND [spotlight]=foxp3
Obviously support for extended (e.g. 'NEAR', 'AND OR', etc) boolean would be great as well!
Once again, thanks for a great program!
Feature request: Spotlight search....
Hi,
That's not a bad idea, but right now you can do a spotlight search for "foxp3" and then in the live search box switch to author (or all fields) and then type "rudensky".
As for boolean searches, the User Guide tells you how to do simple ones with Spotlight. There should be more options in Leopard.
