Library of Congress search problem

Post by grebmar »

I can't find this by searching the forums. I have imported recently a lot of citations from the LOC. Everything seems fine, except that the Call number and ISBN come through as Chinese characters. I really don't know where the problem lies here--with Bookends or LOC. Is there a simple solution?

Try Repairing (not rebuilding) your database and see if that helps. It's an "endian" issue seen with some databases migrated from PPC to Intel Macs.

It works, but only with newly imported documents, and it still doesn't include any of the call number after the decimal point. I don't suppose there's a a way to put in the correct call numbers without doing the search over again.

Hi,

I think the older references will have to be updated. I haven't heard of any problem with call numbers and decimal points. Please contact me off-forum and tell me what filter to use and what search to do.
