Interaction between imports and journal glossary

Post by danzac »

When I import items from wherever it may be, the journal field is always the full title of the journal, which is as it should be. But I would like my journal field to be the shortname of the journal. So doubled the size of my journal glossary by taking the full names and placing them in the abbev. column, so that imported journal names would change to the short name. This seemed logical, but it isn't working. Has anyone else tried this? The only way to get the journal glossary to insert the shortname is to open the entry, cut the journal name out, paste it back in, and then hit tab.

Any thoughts?

First, the abbrev form is what Bookends looks for when you enter the journal from the keyboard. For example, if set up correctly, pnas -> Proc Natl Acad Sci USA

Second, Bookends doesn't use the journal glossary when it imports, it takes the text as provided by the source. You can post-process with global search/replace.
