Constructing a filter for existing text references

Post by apolaine »

I have a text file with an existing bibliography which I'd really like to not have to re-enter into Bookends. Even a partial import would be better than nothing, but even from reading the guide I can't work out how to set up a filter properly.

Each entry in my bibliography looks like this (the 'Ref: ' at the beginning was searched and replaced in as mentioned in the Bookends user guide):

Ref: Polaine, A. (2005) Foreign Policy: 37 Signals, Desktop: Issue 203, February 2005, Niche Media Pty. Ltd., Australia.

My import filter at present gives me nothing. Can anyone help me here? I'm sure I'm not getting something simple.

Here's a screenshot of my current filter set-up:

Do you have "new reference when consecutive tags are identical" checked?

Then you want

to ( -> authors
to number -> ignore
to ) -> date
to letter -> ignore
to end -> title

Thanks so much, that worked (in my original reply I said that there was a problem - in case you're getting this via e-mail - but it was a typo of mine in the fields).

Now I just need to wait for my upgrade payment to go through ;-) (I accidentally upgraded to 10 without reading the note that it was a paid one, so I have the 50 item limit at present).

Are you guys going to get a PayPal account at some point? I much prefer it...
