I'm using BE 10.0.3, and I attached a PDF to an entry that was scanned 2-up. For some reason, the PDF displays in the within BE sideways (it would be correct if it were rotated 90 degrees to the left), although the same PDF shows up within Preview, Skim, EagleFiler, and Acrobat 7 (and -- in fact, in BE's own Attachment inspector) in the correct orientation.
Is anyone else seeing this? Is there a flag in the PDF's data or metadata that controls the orientation that the BE preview pane is ignoring?
There doesn't appear to be way within BE to rotate the view either. If the preview pane is controlled by PDFKit, perhaps simply turning on the ability to rotate might also make it honor the orientation flag?

PDF viewing issues
Hi, I don't know if my issues are similar to the ones mentioned above (because I can't understand some of the lingo…). I scanned an attachment sideways (and just rotate left to view it in Skim). For some reason I thought that BE10.1 would figure out which way was up and move it to that. At least I thought that's what the website said:
"The List View display pane will always show a pdf in a readable orientation even if it was scanned in as a vertical image."
Any thoughts? Or is there a way to rotate a PDF image w/in the viewer? I can't seem to find it.
Thanks for any help.
Daniel

Hi,
If the pdf has orientation information embedded in it, Bookends can automatically rotate it. If not, it will present it as is. How does Preview display it? In any case, you can drag and drop it from Bookends onto the Skim icon in the dock, and it will open in Skim, too (or just double-click on it if Skim is set as your preferred pdf viewer).

Again, thanks for getting back with a response so soon. I'm happy for now. I just found a work-around for rotating PDFs within the Skim app itself, described on this Skim help-page:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.ph ... tid=941984
I just rotate all my Skim PDFs and re-save them in my BE attachments folder. It seems to work for me, as they show up in the right orientation in the BE viewer.
Thanks again.
