Strange behaviour at start-up

During the past couple of weeks, whenever I launch Bookends, instead of the list view appearing, as has always been the case, a reference window (always the same one) appears. To open the list view, I have to go to Window > List View > All. I have tried rebuilding the database, but it has made no difference. What might be causing this strange behaviour?

Probably you have inadvertently changed the settings in preferences. Set it to open with list view instead of reference window.

Thank you. That solved the problem. (I had checked the preferences, but for some reason had overlooked the preference for Default View.)
