Printing your notes

Post by jbarrett »

I was wondering if there was a way to print your notes from Bookends rather than having to copy and format them to a word processor. Have I missed something? It would be nice to go up to 'File' and simply print from there. Thanks.

Hi, it's easy.

Create a format called "Notes". The only entry in the order field would be

n¬¬

(the ¬¬ means the notes are followed by 2 returns, so that's up to you).

When you want to print the notes, make the references you want to print hits, use Biblio -> Bibliography Formatter (or Shift-Command-B) and send the "bibliography" to the Bib Window in the Notes format. You can print that window.

That worked. Thanks. I have no idea how complicated it would be to create this feature, but it would still be easier (and more convenient) to not have to go through those steps and instead just be able to print what you're looking at. Thanks again.

But what are you looking at? The screen? Which field do you want to see? The method I've given you is incredibly flexible, and moreover gives you the chance to print the data from more than one reference at a time. Once you've created the format you want, it's pretty simple:

1. Check the Mark box
2. Shift-Command-B
3. Press Return (Make Bib)
4. Command-P to print
