Recognition problem with different search engines

Post by yick »

I mainly use Pubmed and sometimes Web of Science as my online search engines in Bookends.

I've noticed that the yellow highlight feature (i.e. to indicate that the reference is already in my own database) is not very accurate when I use Web of Science search engine. Some of my saved references are not highlighted.

This problem doesn't seem to exist with Pubmed though.

For WOS, Bookends looks for the URL or the doi in the apropriate fields in the existing database, and if there it will highlight the reference in yellow. If you have an example of a reference you found in WOS that exists in the db and these fields are the same, please contact me directly with the database (zipped, please) and the search to perform.

Does this mean that if the reference in the db has no URL or doi, then WOS search won't recognize the reference as if it's not in the db?

It needs one or the other. If a reference has neither, Bookends can't match it with the same reference found with a new search.
