Beachball and Servers

Post by proteinchaser »

Whenever I open Bookends for the first time, I get the spinning beachball for a few minutes then the message : "Connection Failed. The server may not exist or is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and your network connection and try again". I've been through the Bookend Preferences but can't find where I've specified a server. ALLOW WEB ACCESS TO DATABASES is not checked, nor is PROXY SERVER AUTHENTICATION. The program works, but the delay upon opening is aggravating. Any suggestions?

My guess is that you have opened a database on a server and the Finder is trying to locate it when Bookends creates the "recent" list in the Open menu.

Try clearing the File -> Open menu and see if that does the trick.
