problem with author formatting from online search

Post by proteus »

Hi to all.
I have an issue with the way authors appear after impporting a book entry from an Online Search, say from LOC or elsewhere. Specifically, I would need the comma between an author's first and family names to be stripped. For example, I get

John, Smith

as the final output from an LOC search (I have inverted family and first names via Input filter manager), where I would more simply need

John Smith

I was wondering whether there is an automatic way of performing the above, or whether one must do it manually...
Many thanks and apologies if this issue has already been addressed on the forums!

Hi,

In the import filter you can tell how you want it to handle the authors names (leave them as is or parse them). So open the filter, make a new one based on the LOC filter (or whatever -- if you don't make a new one it will be replaced the next time you upgrade Bookends), rename it, and edit it to taste.
