I'm having three minor issues when formatting a document in Word 2008:
1) spaces in the inserted reference string seem to sometimes disappear and then it can't find the correction citation when it scans. Deleting the spaces, corrects the issue when it is re-scanned. I didn't add the spaces and they don't seem to be there until it scans the document.
2) Some of the parenthetical citations get changed to a smaller font size than the rest of the document and you cannot change the size to a larger size. For instance, my manuscript is formatted at 12 pt, but the citations are stuck at 10 pt and I can't make them 12 pt.
3) It used to be that when I added new references and reformatted the document, they were added to the bibliography, even if the bibliography had been moved from the end of the document (i.e., before figures or something). Now when I do this it automatically duplicates the entire bibliography at the end again, including both the old and new references.
None of these are major issues, but rather, just annoying bugs (that I blame Microsoft for). Hopefully, they will get worked out in future bug fixes.
MS Word 2008 issue
Hi,
1. Part of Word's helpful autocorrect behavior is to insert spaces before some pastes (not sure what the internal rules are). The space is not put there by Bookends.
2. See the Read Me about this. It's usually due to having a style sheet for the paragraph (or document) that is different from the ad hoc style you are using. Setting the style sheet to what you want will fix this.
3. The bib thing I'm not sure about -- it seems Bookends is unable to remove the old one. If you can send me a *small* Word file that does this I'll take a look. One hint: sometimes malformed Word 2008 documents can be cleaned up by opening them in Pages '08 and then exporting as Word. Try that and see if it helps (if you don't have Pages '08, send the file to me and I'll do it).

Re: MS Word 2008 issue
I still have the issue with the reduced font size of the parenthetical citations in Word 2008. Nothing I do allows me to change the font. I've tried playing with the Word settings. I've tried deleting the references and putting them in again. This now happens for a few different files, all of which were created with the previous version of Word.

Re: MS Word 2008 issue
Did you set the style sheet correctly? If so, and you still have the problem, please send me the smallest file you can and the associated database (zipped) and I'll try to reproduce it.

Re: MS Word 2008 issue
I've played around with word settings but am not sure how to change the style sheet. Do you know specifically how to change it?
I've emailed you a small, zipped file.
thanks
