Hi all (and Jon),
I'm getting an error when I try a Spotlight search of my bib with BE v10.2:
Error: CFURL.Constructor: f cannot be nil...
The error seems independent of scope of search (which "Groups" are selected), etc. My article PDFs are attached not in the standard BE-suggested Attachments folder, but the folder is correctly set in prefs, and this has never been a problem before.
Has anyone else had this error? I can't find any mentions in searching the forum with this error string...
Thanks!
Spotlight search error: CFURL.Constructor: "f cannot be nil"
Re: Spotlight search error: CFURL.Constructor: "f cannot be nil"
I'd try reindex Spotlight. If that fails I'd remove Bookends 10 Preferences, reset them to what you had, and try again. Finally, if that fails, I'd put the pdfs in the default Bookends folder location (the one we suggest). If one of those works, we'll have narrowed down the cause.

Re: Spotlight search error: CFURL.Constructor: "f cannot be nil"
Thanks for your response, Jon. Embarrassingly enough, the path to my PDF Attachments folder (not the default) was actually off by a letter after having migrated machines. The Attachments dir specified in prefs didn't actually exist.
(But I'm not sure I understand this fully: it seems like the Spotlight search uses [even relies on] the attachments dir in the prefs, rather than the path unique to each bibio-entry? If so, perhaps a check exists on the prefs dir to give more informative error? Does that mean if my pdfs are all over the filesystem [which they don't happen to be, so I can't check], it can't do the Spotlight search on those outside of the pref-specified dir?)
Thanks again. Sorry for the trouble.

Hi,
When you do a Spotlight search in Bookends, it searches through the default attachment folder and subfolders, where it expects attachments to be. It won't search the entire disk.
