Many of the books I use are edited collections of essays, in other words, each chapter is by a different author. I have put some individual author-chapters in as separate items in Bookends. I also put in the overall book. Problem is I don't know how to make a link between these, minimally I just need to flag that an item is part of a book. Ideally I would like to only input the overall book details once and then have the entries for each essay, when a citation is generated, automatically pick up the information from its parent book's entry. I would expect a relational database to do that but I cannot work out how to set it up. Can anyone help?

Re: edited books
when I'm not wrong this is not possible with Bookends at the moment. But I also would appreciate it to be able to handle chapters of edited books like this.
But I think this feature was requested before.

Re: edited books
You can't make relational entries. But there is a Replicate as Book Chapter to facilitate entry of chapters from an Edited Book. And of course you can always use Duplicate to make a copy of a chapter and then just change the fields that need it.

Hi Jon,
of course it is possible what you wrote, but this also shows, that the feature request of being able to make relational entries would be a very big advancement.
