Hi Jon,
Recently, when searching in Bookends' main window, I start to type a word, Bookends 'stalls' and shows nothing in the search box, then ultimately misses a couple of letters I had typed and displays the following dialog box error: "File does not begin with '%PDF-'".
Any ideas what the problem might be? Thanks!

Hi,
That's not an error message thrown bv Bookends per se, but in I can tell you that pdf files begin with "%PDF-". So it looks like one of the Mac OS frameworks (perhaps WebKit) is trying to load a file with the extension .pdf but is complaining that this is not a real pdf file. If you see the error again, close the bottom display pane (the one that shows the pdf) and see if the message goes away.

Fair enough. Turning off the PDF viewing at the bottom does make the problem go away. My problem is that this is how I *want* to use Bookends. Is there any way to overcome the framework error from your end or do I have to put up with it? The ability to see inline PDFs in this view is very valuable to me... I imagine it is to others as well.

That was just a test.
Now set the action menu popup so that "Use WebKit to display pdfs" is *unchecked*. If that doesn't fix the problem, you should contact me directly for tech support.
