Hanging indents suddenly won't work

Post by yinglam »

Hi,

I am another newbie here and I have been trying really hard to learn the integration of Mellel and Bookends. But after days of discovering bit by bits, suddenly the hanging indents won't work. I have checked at the formats manager and make sure the checkbox for the Turabian style and Turabian footnote have both been checked, but every time I scan a document, the hanging indents won't appear. It used to work.

Could you give me some hints what's wrong? Is this possible I changed some master settings in Mellel?

Thanks!

It is difficult to answer your question with only very little information about your exact setup… I will try to give a few pointers:

First, you should check the format in Bookends. Look at the tab to the right in the format manager (Bibliography Options) and check if you have selected Hanging indents there.

Second, you should check Mellel’s preferences. In the Bibliography section of Mellel’s preferences, you can assign a style set and a paragraph style to the Bookends output. Make sure that you have selected the correct styles here.

Third, you should check the paragraph style that you have assigned in Mellel’s preferences. There are different ways of getting hanging indents. The following is the way I do it: you tell Bookends not to make hanging indents. Instead, you need to define a start margin in the paragraph style that you assign to the Bibliography.
